Office printers come in a variety of shapes, sizes and designs. Printer costs will vary according to the size of model chosen, how much it will be used and what it is capable of doing. A printer that can print high resolution colour sheets, for example, will usually be more expensive to run and to buy than a standard black and white general printer.

There are various types of office printers that a business may choose to buy. The most common options here include ink jets, lasers and dot matrix. Each printer will have a different way of printing and will be able to print at different speeds and to a different quality level. The choice that a business makes here is usually made on what they need the printer for and how much they will use it.

Some businesses will buy their own printers. This can be done when they buy their computers or it can be done separately. In some cases offices will opt to lease office printers instead. This can work out to be cheaper for some businesses as they will be renting the equipment rather than buying it.

Many smaller businesses will also look at office printers that come with various functions. So, for example, it is possible to buy or lease one machine that can print, send a fax and scan documents. This can be useful if space is at a premium.
